Program of Study

The Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVACR) program trains technicians with a strong theoretical background and hands-on experience. HVACR technicians will obtain a solid background in applied electricity and electronics.

Terra State graduates are well-prepared to install and service residential and light commercial HVAC equipment along with light commercial refrigeration equipment. A certificate can be obtained in the day Fast-Track program or in the evening traditional program. Certificate credits can be applied to the Associate Degree.

The HVACR Program implements the new environmentally- friendly refrigerants, new controls and high-efficiency equipment to help the student enter the “Green” workforce.

The faculty has identified the following Learning Outcomes for all graduates:

Test HVACR equipment for troubleshooting purposes.
Calibrate HVACR systems to obtain optimum efficiencies.
Identify electrical safety hazards and quantify these hazards to be able to apply electrical safety procedures.
Plan, design and fabricate sheet metal duct systems and basic fittings.
Interpret electrical ladder diagrams to determine equipment sequence of operation.
