Program of Study

The Accounting program offers beginning courses for those persons who have never had formal training in accounting, as well as advanced courses for those already in the accounting field. Cooperative education opportunities are available for students to gain practical experience.

Accountants record, classify, summarize, and interpret an organization’s day-to-day business transactions. Accountants monitor the flow of cash and the continuing changes in financial obligations.

The faculty has identified the following Learning Outcomes for all graduates:

  • Apply appropriate technology for business communication, computation, and presentation.
  • Explain the variety of services of offered by financial institutions. 
  • Illustrate the importance of financial institutions to the economy and recognize the impact they have on the local community.
  • Employ professional and human relations skills that are necessary in working with both business clients and personal consumers.
  • Explain government regulations and the impact they have on financial institutions.
  • Explain credit and the process of analyzing financial information to assist in the decision-making process of granting credit.
