Program of Study
The Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVACR) program trains technicians with a strong theoretical background and hands-on experience. HVACR technicians will obtain a solid background in applied electricity and electronics.
Terra State graduates are well-prepared to install and service residential and light commercial HVAC equipment along with light commercial refrigeration equipment. A certificate can be obtained in the day Fast-Track program or in the evening traditional program. Certificate credits can be applied to the Associate Degree.
The HVACR Program implements the new environmentally- friendly refrigerants, new controls and high-efficiency equipment to help the student enter the “Green” workforce.
The faculty has identified the following Learning Outcomes for all graduates:
- Test HVACR equipment for troubleshooting purposes.
- Calibrate HVACR systems to obtain optimum efficiencies.
- Identify electrical safety hazards and quantify these hazards to be able to apply electrical safety procedures.
- Plan, design and fabricate sheet metal duct systems and basic fittings.
- Interpret electrical ladder diagrams to determine equipment sequence of operation.
