ART 1030 - Art History: Renaissance to 20th Century 3 Credit Prerequisite(s): College level reading & writing This course focuses on a panoramic view of Western Art from the periods of the Renaissance to the 20th Century. Emphasis is given to Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Photography, Modern Architecture, and Post Modernism periods. An overview of non-Western art is included to aid in understanding the various cultures and the relevance of works of art to our own culture. The influence of social, cultural, historical, economic, spiritual and technical trends during each period of recent history will also be discussed. The course encompasses the comprehension and use of the specialized vocabulary of art history and offers practice in applying the skills of visual analysis and historical interpretation to works of art.
