CIT 2400 - Networking II 4 Credits
Prerequisite(s): “C” or better in CIT1400 This course is divided into two Cisco courses, each part of the CCNA sequence. Part 1: This course focuses on the architecture, components, and operations of routers and switches in small to medium-sized networks. Students learn how to configure and troubleshoot routers and switches for basic functionality, implement VLANs and inter-VLAN routing, and apply concepts of redundancy and spanning-tree protocol. The course also introduces wireless networking concepts and security standards, including WLAN configuration using Cisco equipment. Through hands-on labs and simulations, students gain practical experience in network management, security, and device configuration. This is the second course in the Cisco Networking Academy CCNA sequence, building on skills developed in Introduction to Networks and preparing students for enterprise networking concepts and certification readiness. Part 2: This advanced course explores enterprise networking concepts, including wide area network (WAN) technologies, network security principles, and network automation. Students learn how to configure, troubleshoot, and secure enterprise networks using advanced routing and infrastructure services. The course introduces virtualization, quality of service (QoS), and emerging network technologies such as software-defined networking (SDN) and network programmability. Through extensive hands-on labs and simulations, students gain experience with secure remote access, network monitoring, and automation tools. This is the third course in the Cisco Networking Academy CCNA sequence, preparing students for careers in networking and for the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification exam.
