Associate of Science degree (General Transfer Option) is a two-year program that provides a general education for those interested in the science fields. An AS degree helps students gain useful career skills and is also designed to serve as a stepping stone into a bachelors program at a four year college or university.
To make an informed selection of Arts and Humanities, Social Science, and Natural Science electives, Terra State advises the transfer-intending student to consult the receiving institution to ensure maximum transferability and application of credits.
It is recommended that for the natural science courses students should take sequence courses within the areas.
An additional 2 hours minimum of OTM-approved electives, in any combination from the following categories: English Composition and Oral Communication, Mathematics, Arts and Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and/or Natural Sciences. Additional elective hours may be taken from any Terra State program or discipline to combine with the above requirements to complete a degree with at least 60 semester hours. Care should be taken to select elective courses that will meet specific requirements at the four-year institution. No developmental course may be used as an elective.
