As a survey course, American Literature II is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding for the historical and cultural conditions that have influenced the development and formation of American literature over the past one hundred and sixty years. It also employs several common techniques used to analyze a text. This approach can enhance the understanding and appreciation not only of American Literature, but of any text as well.
